There’s a wonderful world of alternative therapies out there just waiting to be discovered. This month, we shine a light on pranic healing
An ancient system of energy medicine, this therapy sets out to balance, harmonise and transform your body’s energy processes. The word prana means lifeforce and refers to invisible energies that keep the body alive and maintain its good health.
All of us at some point have been a source of life to others, for example, cheering up a friend who was feeling depressed, but this act can often result in you feeling exhausted or drained. That’s because energy and water operate in the same way. Both seek their own level and if there is a passage between two containers, fill one and both will become half full – so, when you were in a good mood and your friend was in the bad place, you were in the high position but this energy then shifted with your transfer of energy.
The first healing technique used in pranic healing is learning how to stem the flow, removing attachments and energetic links to negative people and situations.
With no drugs, gadgets or even physical contact involved, this therapy focuses on the energy around the patient and aims to clear pain, stress and negative emotions and help any ailments that have developed as a result of energy disruptions. This is done not through physical touching but by working on the patient’s energy field, so you can ‘touch’ the energy without touching your body. Some are sensitive to this energy but others feel nothing as emotions are worked on, decreasing and disappearing. The process is a cleanse of the body, removing dirty energy into a nearby bucket with salt water inside – water contains the diseased energy and salt breaks it down.
Pranic healing has been used to heal everything from joint pains to anger issues. Although some remain sceptical, this complementary therapy can produce incredible results in some individuals and the testimonials speak for themselves. Everything you need to know about your first session.
First, you’ll discuss whether the healing is for emotional or physical needs and symptoms. Then, the therapist will ask you to relax with your palms facing upwards, opening your energy field and connecting the tip of your tongue to your palate, completing the channel which strengthens your energy field. It’s best to relax – listening to music or even dozing off are all recommended. Whilst this is going on, the therapist will cleanse and energise your chakras depending on your needs. The treatment will last about an hour.
