Complement your holistic lifestyle with some quick fix upper body exercise
Complement your holistic lifestyle with some quick fix upper body exercise, says Anthony Mayatt
This feature is a small fitness challenge for all you readers out there. I have certainly not created this challenge, but it is a great one so would like to share it with you, especially following all the recent news connecting exercise with a raft of holistic health and emotional benefits. So, let’s get started!
Press-ups work a wide variety of muscles in the upper body, mainly the muscles in the chest, shoulders and back of the arms. Done correctly you will also work the core muscles, keeping them pulled in and in good alignment with the rest of the body, improving posture and balance.
How the challenge works
Depending on your strength levels you can either do full press ups or ones starting on your knees.
Perform 1 press up then stand up
Perform 2 press ups then stand up
Then perform 3 and 4 and 5 and so on until you can physically do no, more making sure you stand up after each set.
What I would like you to then do is write down your number. So, let’s say 7.4, which means you had done seven press ups and when you went to the floor to perform eight, you only managed four.
Do the challenge 1 x per week and see how quickly your strength improves!
Have fun with it and if you are confident enough message me on here with your results. Be sure to check with your GP before starting any new exercise regime.
