In part two of a two-part series, Emma Cannon helps us delve into our true purpose and create some new rules
As the world begins to unfurl, the rules have changed. Last issue I shared two of the five pillars of FERTILE as a way to navigate this new world we find ourselves a part of: Flexibility and Creativity. Here are the three remaining pillars: Nourishment, Transformation and Trust. Remember, to be fertile is to be rich in resources, fruitful, prolific and abundant.
Nourishment
The past 10 years have seen a huge awareness in food and nutrition and how food may impact on our health, prevent disease and in some cases, manage disease. Of course food forms the building blocks for good health. For me, the manufacturing and production of food has always been as important as what we eat. But this pillar is about more than food; it is about where else we receive nourishment in our life and also our ability to receive nutrition from the food that we eat.
So often in life there is so much on offer to us, love, success, opportunity, health, yet we can be very bad at actually receiving it. This is a kind of self-rejection and can impact our choices for years.
Watch out for when you say things like: “I’m fine”, “don’t worry, I can manage” or similar. Check in with yourself; are you actually OK, or would saying: ‘Yes thank you, I would love help’, be a more authentic response?
Transformation
Throughout our lives we will go through accelerated periods of growth; these can stop us in our track or transform our lives. In energetic medicine, we say that these cycles are often every seven years. Much of life’s pain is caused in the pursuit of avoidance of pain; yet pain and grief can be such a transformative energy in our lives.
This pillar is about the modern day alchemist; where we turn our wounds into wisdom. Remaining curious and fascinated about life is really important, as then we don’t readily split things into good or bad – instead, we meet life with fascination.
Trust
I believe we are moving into a time where the energy is quite different than it has been previously. There feels to me to be a need to respond to life, instead of forcing our will on life. Like the river navigates its way around boulders and obstacles that are in its way, we too must now become more fluid with our plans.
We live in a time of great change and uncertainty and it is likely to remain this way for sometime to come. So trusting in the flow of life and trusting in whatever life gives us will become a new code for living.
Having a deep sense of trust actually allows us to have more resources, as we are not living from a place of fear. Fear will continue to dominate our media and our environment, but when we trust in ourselves and in our lives we will be less impacted by the constant bombardment of a fear-based society.
