MyAnna’s Diet DIARY
Breakfast:
On a day-to-day basis I probably start off with porridge or eggs on toast.
Lunch:
For lunch I might have pasta with a bolognaise sauce and fresh veg and I always eat quite a lot of salad.
Dinner:
For an evening meal it depends, if I have had a larger lunch I will have a smaller dinner and if I have had a smaller lunch I’ll have a large dinner! I really like steak or fish and vegetables. I also enjoy mackerel and seabass. I love all fish and I suffer from dry eyes, which oily fish can help with.
Snacks:
I snack on fruits and nuts, and all the things you are told you should include. I’m quite lucky because I like fruit and nuts as much as chocolate, Wotsits and wine, so it balances out.
Drinks:
I like a good glass of wine or two. Red wine is meant to be good for you but maybe not two or three glasses!
Did you know
Some oils and supplements boast essential fats omega 3 6and 9’. But omega 9 is not an essential fat, meaning your body can make it, so this is actually a bit of a marketing gag!
What the Fairies say:
MyAnna breaks her nightly fast with some top-notch morning meals. But,we’d like to see some colour in the form of fruits and vegetables. Plenty of antioxidants will help keep her complexion HD-ready, for those unforgiving cinema screens. Dark coloured berries will add a pop of radiance to her morning porridge.
This may challenge your idea o fnutritional etiquette, but if she left eating breakfast until later on in the morning it may be better for her health than eating first thing. Longer overnight fasting has been shown to enhance health and promote longevity, but only if you are fit, healthy and at an ideal weight for your height. This is not a weight-loss tactic, just to be clear. Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day, it just prefers to have a lie in!
A larger lunch and lighter dinner makes sense. This gives the digestive system a rest and allows your liver to get to work for its purifying twilight shift.
Myanna’s penchant for fish gets a big tic kfrom us, especially the super-splash,mackerel. Yes, omega 3 is essential for eye health, but actually the unsung hero and lesser-known omega 7 is better. The best source is sea buckthorn oil, which helps to hydrate mucous membranes. Omega 7 is especially important for contact lens wearers and those who sit in front of a computer screen all day.
She’s spot on – red wine is great in moderation! It is pumped with the much-celebrated anti-aging ingredient, resveratrol, which helps protect the heart from disease and the body from cancer.Non-drinkers can try acai berries which are brimming with resveratrol too.
