Pilates may not be the first thing you think of when looking for a way to lose weight, but when performed correctly with the right instructor, you’ll be surprised of the difference it makes.

One of the first things my clients notice when I work with them, is how Pilates improves your posture , making you look taller, leaner, and how it tones your muscles, making you look vibrant and healthier. Over many years of teaching Pilates, I can happily confirm that Pilates also stimulates the digestive organs and glands making weight-loss easier too. Combined with a cardio workout, Pilates promises faster results and a more sculpted and toned body. This is why so many of Hollywood’s stars are now singing the praises of Pilates. So if you can’t make it to your nearest Pilates studio now, here are my three Pilates moves that will help you to shed those pounds straight away.
Bridging
The Shoulder Bridge is an amazing way to tone the glutes (bottom) and the backs of the legs, whilst bringing mobility to the spine. So this one helps make you stand taller and tones up the back of your body.Try this whilst squeezing a block between the thighs for even more toning.
Eagle Crunches
Ok, so not strictly a Pilates exercise, but holding eagle pose whilst you fire up your abs, not only sculpts the abs, but stimulates the digestive organs and stimulates Lymph drainage in the thighs. Be sure to do the same on both sides. A balanced body is everything!
Swimming
If you want a flat tummy, start with the back. Sounds funky, but believe me, if you stand up straight and tall, you’ll instantly look slimmer. Use this energizing exercise to strengthen your back muscles, whilst the increased heart rate from the movement burns those calories fast!
