Nita Saini shares her uplifting thoughts on battling depression and low mood
Dear Friends
I’m absolutely delighted to be in touch with you.
I was touched to the core with watching a one-minute interview with a lady who is 109 years old. I felt compelled to share this with you. This inspirational lady, Alice Herz-Sommer, is the oldest living holocaust survivor in the world. After losing everything in her life she says: “I see beauty everywhere”. When asked what her secret to feeling good was, she simply replied: “Optimism, to admire, to be happy, and to be thankful, thankful we are living. Wherever you look there is beauty, beauty everywhere. I know about the bad things, but I choose to look towards the good things”.
Such wisdom, so simply put. An inspiration to the world.
Sometimes we have so much going on in our lives, that it seems as if there is nothing good.
One of the techniques that will help us to focus on the good things, is the Gratitude List technique from my book Moving on Up! Such a simple, straightforward technique, yet so powerful.
And here it is: Make a list of what you are grateful for. Display your list around your home and make a point of pausing to read it throughout your day, with deep feeling, so that each and every cell of your body is grateful for those things. Feel this deeply….
Some people think that we can only be grateful for expensive material items, and whilst we can be grateful for these things too, there is so much more that we can choose to be grateful for. From our friends and family, to warm beds, to smiles we can give and receive, from being inspired to do something we believe in, to being physically capable of doing things like… washing the dishes! I know some people who would do anything to be able to carry out such chores that many of us take for granted. Only a few years ago, I myself struggled with being able to carry out such a simple task.
When I first wrote my list many years ago, I struggled to find anything that I was grateful for. But, once I’d thought of one thing, many others flowed with ease…
You can choose to read your list first thing in the morning or before you go to bed at night too. It’s wonderful falling asleep with these thoughts on our mind.
I’m constantly looking to help light up people’s lives. To this end, I’d love to know how my book and/or free audio have helped you, and what other things could help too. I will respond to all emails and will look into incorporating your suggestions into the next edition of Moving on Up!
If you’ve not yet had a chance to listen to the free destressing and relaxation audio, feel free to download it from www.movingonupthebook.com , or if you know of anyone else who is struggling with life, stressed and would like to relax more (or be even more uplifted) please feel free to forward this to them.
