How can you be more in tune to what you need, and use yoga to make better decisions, we ask top international yoga teacher Jacqueline May Lysycia
Your decisions are so important for your happiness, because you only get one shot. If you ‘feel’ something you simply ‘feel it’ and no one can take you from that path. You can pretend to believe you love someone but if you don’t feel it, your thinking mind will never convince you over your feelings.
Teaching people to be sensitive and to learn to become intimate with themselves is what I do through yoga , meditation and breathing. What a gift to be able to just ‘know’ what you need, be it more love, sunlight, or just more tuning in to your own body so you can connect to others and the planet. If you can’t feel anything, how will you ever know if the decision is a good one or not until something goes wrong?
As you practise yoga, know that a new dimension of consciousness has stepped in. The habitual, compulsive thoughts have lost their power and will gradually subside. As you learn to stay conscious in the present moment, you are more aware and present than you are when identifying with your thoughts. Decisions being made in those equanimous moments will usually be the right ones for you, and perhaps not the decisions you have spent hours thinking about in a place of tension based upon external forces, other people and the world in general.
This is eloquently expressed by Eckhart Tolle: “The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated. You then begin to realise that there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that intelligence. You also realise that all the things that truly matter – beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace – arise from beyond the mind. You begin to awaken.”
